Can you be anonymous and still download stuff?

i am a fan of old dos games which are hard to find but i found them on some torrent sites - i know that whenever you download a torrent or anything from anywhere you leave a "digital footprint" is there anyway to download completely anonymously or at least block your ip from showing up in other ppls torrent programs
