Nose ring problem what do I do, there's so much confusing info on the internet?

Hi I have had my nose pierced with a ring for 7 months and the first month was okay. I've had this bump on my face ever since March and its gone down in the past but, then it got abit aggitated and has come back up again, I am going to the doctors soon but Im not confident theyll help. can I take it out and then just clean it thoroughly? or what :(
