On June 21st, does the northern or southern hemisphere tilt toward the sun?

so in science cl our teacher is making us debate wich is right, southern hemisphere or northern. some people day is northern because since the sun hits it mroe it makes it hotter. other poeple say souther since the sun is closer it makes it colder (we learned about the winter solstice sun path).
